Welcome to Herndon Animal Medical Center, your home for compassionate pet care. Our animal hospital provides wellness pet care services to keep your pet healthy and active for years to come. Under the guidance of our experienced veterinary care team, we provide pet vaccinations, wellness exams, pet surgery, spay/neuter procedures, pet dental care, nutritional counseling, urgent and emergency pet care, and more. We are passionate about helping all pets live a long, healthy and active life.

Wellness care is the foundation of our practice; prevention truly is the best medicine! Annual checkups are an opportunity to assess your pet’s overall health and check for early symptoms of internal health problems that might not otherwise be evident. Our wellness checkups include full diagnostic blood work, parasite screenings, and physical exams. The earlier we can detect a potential health problem, the more we can do to treat this condition and limit the impact on your pet’s health. Call us now for an appointment!

Pet Wellness Care

In addition to our adult pet wellness checkups, our pet hospital also provides specialized senior pet care and puppy/kitten care. This includes the puppy/kitten shot series to protect young pets from highly contagious and potentially deadly diseases. As your pet ages, our specialized senior care programs address common age-related health concerns such as mobility restrictions and incontinence with compassionate care. From your pet’s first months through an active adulthood and into his golden years, our veterinarian is with you and your pet each step of the way.

Even with the best wellness care, Gutowski understands that illnesses and accidental injuries can happen. Common symptoms of pet health problems include vomiting or diarrhea for more than 24 hours, lethargy, and unwillingness to eat food. Seizures or loss of consciousness require immediate urgent care. Your pet does not need to be a current patient in order to receive urgent or emergency care at our veterinary hospital. We request that you give us a call on the way in so our veterinary team will be ready to assist upon your arrival. Our emergency veterinarian is ready to treat a wide variety of pet health concerns including illnesses, skin conditions/allergies, orthopedic injuries, and intestinal distress. When an emergency strikes, every second matters. Our pet hospital offers cutting edge technology and diagnostic exams for prompt, precise results and immediate treatment.

Committed to Excellence!

Our animal hospital is warm and welcoming for pets and children of all ages. We are a family-friendly pet hospital committed to excellence in all that we do. Pet care education is an important part of our mission. We are always happy to take extra time to answer your questions.

We look forward to welcoming your pet into our animal family. Contact Herndon Animal Medical Center today at 703-435-8777 to schedule your pet's appointment!

Testimnial Quote
Our cats past and present have been patients at this practice for a total of nearly 30 years. Our two cats Newt and Ripley lived 22 and 18 years respectively and even tested positive for feline leukemia when we found them as tiny kittens. The doctors, techs, and staff have never once let us down in both simple and complicated situations, emergencies and non. My next pair of tiny kittens who are now 7-years-old, and a third kitten who showed up this past winter are patients here now. We have loved every veterinarian we've seen at Herndon Animal Medical Center. One of my cats is actually in love with Dr. Giaimuccio. He demands that she hold him in her arms and hug him! I highly recommend this place. The prices are competitive for this area (yes, pricey, but we live in Northern Virginia). We miss Dr. Barry and hope she is having a wonderful retirement.
